Recognition (vent, rant whatever you want to call it)

I don’t typically use my blog to vent but I have to in this case. So I apologize from the beginning.

After the crews come back from their mission, various items are signed and handed out to team members that made their mission a success. They are typically photo montages with the crew patch that says XXXX thank you for your hard work and dedication blah, blah, blah…

I have worked through 3 crews and have yet to recieve one of these appreciation gifts. I know I should be happy that I have a job but when 2 out of 3 team members get recognition, it makes it kind of hard to be proud and work as a team. This isn’t the first time that the rest of the team has been listed on presentations and I have been left off. It just seems so hard for people to accept change.

Ok, I feel better now. 🙂

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a very restful and relaxing holiday break!  I know I did and did NOT want to come back to work.  It was very nice staying up late and sleeping late.

My vacation started out with me getting a sinus infection the day my grandparents and cousins arrived.  That was a ton of fun!  NOT!  I finally started feeling better the day after Christmas and then Robert came down with the same thing!  Lovely how that works.  Over all we still had a nice time at home.  For those of you that know me, know that I like to be busy.  You would be proud to know that we weren’t really gone that much other than visiting with family and serving at church.  I do wish I had been able to work on my scrapbook though.

New Year’s Eve was spent at home with friends playing the Wii and eating yummy snacks.  My brother’s girlfriend Jenny came in town after Christmas and stayed at our house.  That means Matt was over there as well.  It was nice getting to spend some time together.  Before he left to go back to school he helped get all the Christmas containers back up in the attic.

Speaking of the Wii, that game system is a TON of fun!  It comes with bowling, baseball, boxing and golf and we bought a game called Rampage.  It is a great stress reliever because you are basically Godzilla and his friends going through destroying cities!

Congrats to my friends Mayu, Dilshan and Mayuca.  They had a baby boy named Minuc this afternoon.  Everyone is doing great and we are going to see them tomorrow after work.  I will try to take my camera to post a picture.

Have a great day!

Books!

A goal that I have for myself for 2007 is to read more.  I spend a lot of time watching TV so I am going to try to turn off the TV and just read.  So far so good.  Thankfully I am in a book club so that helps me read at least a book a month.  So far in the last month (December to now) I have read 3.5 books.  He See’s You When You’re Sleeping by Mary Higgins Clark was my pick for December; The Dive From Clausen’s Pier by Ann Packer was suggested by a friend; Good Grief by Lolly Winston is January’s book club pick, I have already finished it; Aquamarine and Indigo by Alice Hoffman is the book I am currently reading. I think the focus for that is the preteen age frame so it is a nice light read after what I have just finished reading.  Alice Hoffman was suggested by a friend and this was the first book that I found by her at Half Price books.  I like to buy my books rather than check them out at the library. Then I don’t have to worry if I dog ear the pages or not!  Half Price is the way to go if I don’t get the book from a friend.  My friend Erin just gave me 2 books and was the one who suggested Lolly Winston and Alice Hoffman.  She had just given me Good Grief and then it was picked for January book club!  She said she used to read a book a week!  I would love to read the Janet Evonovich books but I have heard that when you start with 1, you are going to want to read them all.

I plan to keep track of the books I read on my blog.  Sorry if I ramble on too much.  If you ever want to borrow any books after I read them, let me know.  I am not a person to reread books so if you pass them on, it is no big deal.
