A great Texas Saturday

Today was a slow day for the most part at our house. Gustav was nailing Cuba and staying just ambiguous enough on his path that we were sure if we’d have to evacuate or not. So far tonight it’s looking like we’re staying here and Gustav is going to Louisiana. Kendra isn’t feeling well and Levi is on and off fussy, probably because of the previously mentioned toothing. This morning Kendra was back sleeping after helping out a little in the morning. Levi was getting a little fussy and I was trying to take care of laundry, so he went to hang out with her. About an hour later I went into our room and found the scene below.
Later in the day we went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Longhorns play Florida Atlantic. It wasn’t televised except on pay per view, and I didn’t want to pay $30 for it. We ended up spending that much, but on yummy wings, which seems a lot better to me. Here’s Levi sticking with the color theme for the night eating sweet potatoes.
After he ate he was sitting on our table playing. We had finished our appetizer and hadn’t gotten any wings yet, so this worked out great. You can see he is wearing his first Longhorn’s tee. He is growing out of it, but luckily we have plenty more Longhorn gear for him.
About halftime Levi was done. He passed out in my arms and we ended up heading home. The game was on radio, so I still got to listen to the rest of the beating we gave FAU. All in all it was great to finally get back to college football. 246 days was just too long.

Toothing

So I’m sitting at work, doing working things this morning when I get a call. Having caller ID I know its Kendra. I pick up and she’s all kinds of excited. “He’s got a tooth!”, she says. We knew he was going to be getting them soon. His gums on one side were harder and he has been chewing on that one side a ton. He’s also been drooling a LOT more and been more fussy this week. Now we have a firm reason why. I guess its breaking through because Kendra felt it today. There’s only one as far as I know, so I guess he’s just toothing right now. We’ll probably move on to teething before long I’m sure. No pictures because he won’t hold still long enough.

On a related note he has apparently decided to adopt the baby bird method of feeding. He opens and closes his mouth constantly while making noises as we prepare his food. Its quite cute, but hard to capture. I’ll have to try to get video of it soon.

Today is also Levi’s second Astros game. Kendra got free tickets from a coworker who couldn’t go since its a day game. Kendra’s cousin Krista is in town, so the two of them are going with Levi. Kendra’s mom is also going to the game, but sitting somewhere else. Hopefully the Astros will win, like they did for Levi’s first game.

Drink a little juice, Sing a little song

Levi has mastered eating solids, so we’ve decided to move on to juice from a sippy cup. The nozzle on it is hard, so its very different from a bottle. He had some trouble with this, and what you see below was about the best we got.
Levi is sitting up really well now, he still occasionally falls, but not much anymore. Of course the depth finder on our camera is this red light that always throws him off. He was making a happy face right until this picture was taken.
This shirt is great.
After talking to a friend with an older kid we got a different brand of sippy cup with a soft part on it. He did a lot better with that and has drank a few times.
We’ve been watching a lot of Olympic coverage this week and last. Here’s a shot of Tyler watching as well. He’s a big fan of TV. Here he is wishing he was that fast.
Friends of ours have Rock Band for the PS3 and we play it every week over at their house. One week Kendra was sick and so I had to carry Levi while I sang. He actually enjoyed it a lot and tried to sing the whole time. This week Kendra was there, so she got pictures of him singing with me. He loves it.
Lots of singers have the mike in their mouth when they sing, Levi is no different. Of course he’s not singing much.

6 Months of Cute

Behold, the glory that is Levi and his 6 month pictures.

Last month we got a shot of me holding his feet up. It wasn’t intentional, she just took the picture when I was trying to get him to grab his feet. Kendra was a bit upset she didn’t get to do the same, so this month she got to.

I think he doesn’t roll over half the time because his feet distract him.

What?
Mmmm, good foot.
I think this is how his toe nails stay trimmed. Ewww.

We are in so much trouble when he starts asking for stuff. How can you say no to that face.

Oh, there you are!

As you can see, he is one powerfully cute baby.
