Vacation, Disappointment, Birthday and White Trashiness

Lots going on since the last set of pictures. I was on vacation for an additional 2 weeks, one of them paid, the other an unpaid furlough. Kendra and I have both been sick, so there’s definitely less pictures recently.

Here’s a cute shot of him on his slide. When he’s in the mood he loves to take pictures. When he’s not don’t even bother.
Hamming it up with mommy for a self portrait.
Look at the fascination in his eyes. Is it any wonder the tree had to be taken down a few days ahead of schedule. A few ornaments also had to be fixed with super glue.
Here’s Levi with Granddaddy on New Years Eve. They hung out and played while mommy and daddy went to a party with friends. Thanks for watching him Mimi and Granddaddy.
Here’s Mimi with Levi once again with a silly smile.
Here he is playing with some wooden blocks he got, next to his football chair.
I got something shipped to me recently that came packed in the big bubble wrap. Levi didn’t know what it was, but he figured it out fast. I would hold up a single bubble and he would squeeze it to pop it. We literally went through every single one of them in one sitting. It was a fun 20 minutes. We have video, but I need to resize it so I can upload it.
Here’s Kendra and I before the college “national championship” game. We were happy until 2 minutes into the game when Texas’ quarterback was injured and our freshman backup who had essentially never played had to take over. Definitely a hollow victory for the other team. I do find it funny the freshman almost brought Texas back into it before his mistakes took it away. Not a bad outlook for the future. Alabama then proved themselves classless by running up the score with a touchdown with only a minute left. Pretty classless when the main reason you had it so easy was you injured a member of the other team.
Here’s Levi before the game.
We had Doritos and he was a big fan. They were all over his face.
Here we are hanging out in the recliner.
Here’s a shot of Levi in his cute new sweater. We don’t normally have much call for warm weather gear here. As I type this it is 70 degrees outside. However, on this day it was just barely above freezing in Houston.
We went out to eat at Maggiano’s in Houston for Matt’s birthday. Great food and a good time, except Levi got impatient about halfway through, so we had to tag team taking him outside. That’s the only problem with a yummy multi-course meal.
Levi really liked the dessert.
Here’s Matt and his wife Jennifer.
Levi, Uncle Matt and Bob. Levi is still talking about Bob and his girlfriend Amy. Every time we talk about Uncle Matt he asks about them.
Here’s the whole group together outside.
During my abundant time off I decided not to shave much. This is a shot before I trimmed up. My mustache is basically blond, while my chin is covered in red. My neck grows in brown. I am essentially a calico.
Since my company furloughed us I decided to return with a white trash mustache. Here it is in all its funky glory. It did not remain for long. I am not clean shaven, at least for a little while.
One day Levi went to the park to play in the afternoon. The only problem was this happened during his normal naptime. When he got home he didn’t want to nap, even though he was miserably tired. After an hour of screaming and negotiating he finally fell asleep. We had to wake him up to keep some sort of schedule. Of course at this point he was raging angry from hunger and his schedule being off.
Funny enough, the thing that saved us was these two Longhorn sippy cups and his Space Shuttle fork and spoon. They calmed him down and got him to eat. After that he was fine. Ahh the mind of a toddler.

Christmas Time

Levi of course got all sorts of cool things for Christmas. He also has really started learning the main reason for the season. He knows about Baby Jesus and his mommy Mary and daddy Joseph. The Little People nativity has really helped
Here we are putting together his big slide and climbing toy. It will end up outside when the weather is better, but I was overruled and pushed into allowing it into our dining room. Of course we only use our dining room at this time of the year, but oh well.
Levi loves his toy. Its also a birthday present since it was so big.
He loves all the parts of it
Even the telescope, though he doesn’t quite understand it.
He’s still learning how to climb well. He uses his knees more than his feet.
Here he is with his Nana and Paw Paw.
They got him some Space Shuttle silverware. He liked that a lot. He’s a big fan of things with wings.
Here we all are together by the tree.
Here’s the spread at Mimi and Granddaddy’s house.
Levi got to open presents from Mimi, Granddaddy, Uncle Matt and Aunt Jennifer. He had a lot of fun.
Here we are all together.
Levi really enjoys being on shoulders.
Here he is at the unveiling of some of his art. Unfortunately, its a bit out of focus.
Here is an artistic view of our tree on Christmas morning at like 1 am when we were done putting things together.
Here’s his Bob pillow we got him.
Here he is when he first came down on Christmas morning.
He wasn’t sure what to do and just sat and looked at it all at first.
He was a big fan of his new tricycle.
And his Bob the builder took kit. here’s his hammer.
He helped Mommy make a cake for Jesus’ birthday.
Here he is surrounded by gifts from Grandma and Grandpa. He’s looking at a painting smock with his name on it.
Here we are after all the gift opening and such.
After opening gifts we went outside for a bike ride.
Here’s some fun video of him riding. The trike’s handle can swing down and make a rocker. It can be like it is in the picture for assistance and then the handle can come off and he can ride solo when he’s older.

We had a great time having everyone over, but we were pretty tired by the end, so it was great to get to rest afterwards.

Almost Christmas

Levi got some gingerbread cookies to decorate from one of his grandparents and left some at our house. We decided to spend some time decorating with him and had a lot of fun. You can see he already took a bite out.
He really enjoyed himself.
This is the one I made. He’s a white trash gingerbread man in a wife beater and socks. He’s about to be on Cops.
Here he is after picking a fight with the cops.
And now with his hands cuffed behind his back. I figured I’d have fun with the cookies too.
Levi had a lot of fun with the Christmas tree. We got him the ornaments for this year and he like putting them on. Our hardest battle has been getting him to leave them on.
Here we are about to go to Festival of Lights in Dickinson. Its a great free display in town.
Levi had a lot of fun there. We met his girlfriend Olivia’s family at Chilis and then headed down there.

Here we are all together in one of the light tunnels.
And then we entered hyper space.
Then we got a good shot of Olivia and her family. Levi is so funny. He will answer “nibia” when you ask who his girlfriend is. Then he says her parents names. He’s so cute.
While we were there Levi’s Mimi and Granddaddy came to check things out too.
Levi did pretty well with Santa. He didn’t want to be left alone, but was okay with being on Mommy’s lap. Olivia was not having any of it. She didn’t know who that guy was and didn’t want anything to do with him.
They have a big castle of lights set up for taking pictures. Levi and Olivia were dancing around in it.
Then we headed to see the best lights, the Longhorn ones.
Very nice.
We also went to a YMCA ornament making thing with Grandma and Grandpa. Levi wasn’t so sure about this guy, but we got a few shots. One of our friends has a great shot of Santa looking unhappy while her daughter screams on his lap. Of course his look here isn’t very happy either. What can I say, it was free.
We went to Kendra’s company Christmas party too, as one of our few excuses to get dressed up.
Here we are with our friends Brian and Ann-Marie. Levi knows their names too. And he remembers their new baby, “Becca”. He can’t quite get Rebecca down.
Our neighbors have two girls that are 6 and 8. Levi always asks about them and wants to play with them. One day one of them was on her scooter and decided to let him try it out. He was very happy about this idea.
He had a lot of fun on the scooter.
Levi really enjoyed the scooter a lot, though he can’t do it alone.

Here he is posing with both of the girls.

Here he is blown away by a bright flash, while wearing a cute sweater.
Here we are chillaxing later.
And here he is making some Christmas gifts for family. He really liked doing this.
He used brushes, and fingers.
Each one he made had a hand print and his name.

Look with your Eyes

Levi has been great with our Christmas tree now that it has been up for a little bit.  We have been saying “look with your eyes and not with your hands” quite a bit.  One night I told him that and he literally walked up to the tree put the ornament right up to his face and was looking at it with his eyes.  Too funny!

We also got Levi a Little People Nativity set last year after Christmas.  I wanted one last year but couldn’t spend the money.  I went to Mardel’s after Christmas and found one for 75% off!  Let me tell you, it is some of the best money I have ever spent.  I would pay full price if I had known how much he would enjoy it.  He loves carrying Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus around.  He knows that Mary rode on a donkey, Jesus was born in a manger, the angel Gabriel and the Sheppard’s.  Seems like every time I ask him questions, he knows more and more.

Levi also knows the song Jingle Bells.  He says “Hey” in the right spots and he knows the laughing all the way part.  He loves music and loves dancing.  We are looking forward to starting music classes in January at a church in Pasadena.

He and his friend Olivia recently went to the Festival of Lights in Galveston and Dickinson.  They have so much fun together and really enjoy seeing each other.  We have video of them dancing that I’ll try to post.  This weekend we are hoping to go ride a train at a local church to see more lights.  He loves turning ours all on and looking at lights as we drive.  He will say “ohhh pretty lights” when we see them.

He also got to see St. Nick this last weekend.  He didn’t cry but he didn’t want put down by himself so Mommy got to see St. Nick too.  That’s ok, we got some cute pictures so that makes me happy.

I promise to get pictures up here again soon.  Things have been so busy recently and we have been having a great time celebrating the Christmas season.  Make sure to check out Robert’s blog for lots of recent updates.
